Pursuant to District of Kansas Local Rule 77.6, the court appoints a Bench-Bar Committee which consists of the Chief Judge, other judges who may be appointed by the court, representatives from the district’s U.S. Attorney and Federal Public Defender offices and the chair of the Bench-Bar Committee of the Kansas Bar Association. The judges also select nine actively practicing members of the bar of the court who each serve a three-year term. The Bench-Bar Committee has general advisory and liaison roles with respect to the court’s operations, providing a forum for continuously studying court practices and procedures, as well as considering and recommending adoption, amendment, or rescission of the Rules of Practice of the court. The Committee typically meets twice a year and is currently chaired by Judge Daniel D. Crabtree.
The Court is seeking to fill two lawyer positions on the Bench-Bar Committee with the term commencing on January 1, 2024, and expiring on December 30, 2026. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please complete the Bench-Bar Committee Application for Membership, attach a current copy of your resume, and email it to KSD_attorney_registration@ksd.uscourts.gov or submit to the below address by August 31, 2023:
