In addition to membership in the State Bars of Missouri and Kansas, he is a member of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, the Eighth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals, The United States Court of Federal Claims and the United States Supreme Court. His practice in those areas is directly for injured clients or referral and association with other practicing attorneys. In 2001 Mr. Cronan received the UMKC Law Foundation, Man of La Mancha Award for his work in one of the first smoking death cases in Kansas City for the family of a long time smoker of Brown & Williamson cigarettes. The case was tried in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. Since 1984 Mr. Cronan has maintained the highest possible rating (a-v) from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings. He is a former member of the Missouri Supreme Court Region IV Disciplinary Committee (1994-2002) and Disciplinary Hearing Officer. In 2009 Mr. Cronan received the designation of Super Lawyer of Missouri & Kansas by KC Magazine as one of the top plaintiff's personal injury lawyers in those states. Mr. Cronan has tried over 100 jury trials and has been attorney of record in over 15 reported appellate decisions. In 1989 he was successful in urging the Missouri Supreme Court to broaden the law of premises liability in the case of Shiel v. T.G. & Y. Stores, Co., 781 S.W.2d 778 (Mo.banc 1989) to no longer require proof by a plaintiff that the store owner knew of a dangerous condition of its property where that condition was inherently probable from selling in a self-service format.
